ZdG Wins Awards at the Best Journalists of the Year Gala

The Center for Independent Journalism awarded the best journalists of the year on December 19. This year, ZdG’s editorial staff won awards in two categories the best report in print media and another award for innovative journalism. In November this year, ZdG also won awards in the click for gender equality contest and the best investigation of the year 2019.  

The Journalists of the Year Gala is organized annually, starting with 1995, in the Chișinău Press Club. The main purpose of this action is to strengthen professional journalism, to support and encourage the efforts of journalists to make a good press, adhering to international professional standards.

During the best journalists of the year 2019 Gala, ZdG reporter, Aliona Ciurcă won the award for the best reporter in the print media. ZdG’s executive director, Alina Radu won the award for innovative journalism.

Previously ZdG reporters also won awards during the Mass-Media Forum. In the category Investigation of the year 2019 in the national media, the first place was not offered, however, the journalists of the Ziarul de Gardă, Anatolie Esanu and Victor Moșneag, were awarded with the second place for the investigation Leading Moldova’s Federation of Football till the end: Football as a Business.

In the second edition of the contest Click for gender equality, ZdG photographer, Ecaterina Alexandr, was awarded the second place for the best photo from the perspective of gender equality. The photo was taken in the context of the International Day of the elderly in the village of Cruglic, Criuleni district: The secret of longevity: “I didn’t have time to stay, I worked my whole life”
