World Press Freedom Day: ZdG Invites You to Discover Our Newsroom

Today is World Press Freedom Day and it is the first time that the ZdG newsroom is closed, and reporters stay home on this day. However, we decided to open the virtual doors of the newsroom for you.

The ZdG team has 27 members. We’ve prepared more information about the ZdG team: who we are, how we became part of ZdG, and what we’re doing in our free time. You can find out HERE.

No doubt, many are wondering where ZdG gets its money from and what we buy. Our editorial office publishes its activity reports every year, and we present the report for 2019 HERE.

It is for the first time when the editorial office works in isolation and we decided to share with you how hard it was to do journalism, but also to stay with our families, children, grandchildren, parents, cats, or puppies. Details HERE

Citizens’ marathon: during the pandemic, citizens were the best source of information for ZdG. They told us about the injustices in the medical system, about the poor equipment of doctors, about dubious contracts in different structures of the state.

Editorial. In the editorial section, we propose a text in which we make a comparison between access to press conferences in Moldova, in the European Union, and in Space. Link HERE

Impact.  In these days of the pandemic, ZdG not only informed the society but also contributed to solving the problems of some people in difficulty. A pensioner escaped the fine imposed by the authorities, and Marin, a blind young man from Briceni, the north of Moldova, received unexpected help.

Marketing. Today, on Press Freedom Day, is the time to ask ourselves how much it costs journalists to maintain their independence, non-affiliation and freedom of expression. The secret of ZdG’s survival lies in the diversity of funding sources. The more different entities will support this newsroom, the lower the risk of losing its independence, and the better the quality of the materials and the greater the involvement of reporters.
