Who Is Part of ZdG Team?
    03 May 2020 | 12:37

    ALINA RADU
    Director
Birthplace: Vărzăreștii-Noi, Călărași, the center of Moldova.
Education: Faculty of Journalism, Moldova State University.
Study visits: I had the opportunity to visit over 50 countries of the world on five continents. Everywhere, I insisted on visiting newsrooms, prisons, and cemeteries. They were all my journalism lessons.
Work experience: 1989-2004 -Teleradio Moldova, Catalan TV, Flux, IDIS Viitorul; 2004 to present – ZdG.
Responsibilities at ZdG: I am the co-founder and accidentally a manager. However, journalism is my passion. I am responsible for managing activities and identifying funds, and if I have time, I write.
When and why I came to ZdG: I left several politically controlled newsrooms, I no longer wanted to work in censored institutions. And in 2004, I joined ZdG. I stayed here because no politician can exercise any control over the ZdG. In addition, after visiting hundreds of newsrooms around the world, I did not find a more interesting team anywhere.
What I like to do besides my editorial work: I like to care for my family, to laugh at trifles, to meditate in silence, to play loud music, to make plans about journalism, to try to do something other than journalism and rediscover that I still can’t, to believe that hardships are good, to see again and again how good prevails, and to enjoy life.
    Awards: 2018 – best press manager, API; 2015 – the best local documentary, Chronograph; 2015 – Geuzen Medal (Netherlands) for resilience in journalism; 2013 – Freedom Award, IDIS; 2012 – Best Local Documentary, Chronograph; 2010 – the best human rights reporter, UN; 2009 – Ten journalists of the year, CJI; 2006, the best investigation – API; 1999 – the best social reporter, UNDP; 1998 – Grand Prix, the documentary “Gone by the Wind”, TV Festival, Kosice, Slovakia;

    ANETA GROSU
    Editor-in-chief
    Birthplace: Drochia village, Drochia district
    Education: Moldova State University
Work experience: The first job was the News Department at State Television. I was part of the team that launched Mesager, the first news program in Independent Moldova. Later, I worked at the first Independent Television Station – Catalan. I also worked for the Flux and Accente newspapers, after which I came to the Ziarul de Gardă.
Responsibilities at ZdG: Together with the team, we do Ziarul de Garda, as well as news and video products, we participate in several media projects, we train students, who come to the newsroom in international projects, such as IREX, or interns who come from faculties of journalism.
Ziarul de Garda has grown since 2004 when it was launched: it has expanded its team, diversified its media products, and increased the number of subscribers. All this because we always approached hot topics without fear.
When and why I came to ZdG: First, together with some journalists, I founded Ziarul de Gardă, and I remained here to work. It has been almost 16 years since then. When we started, I thought it was a test of strength, of our experience, as well as a test of the media market, in order to understand if we were ready to resist in Moldova at a time when the Communist Party of the Republic of Moldova was in power. It was not easy, but today we understand that it was possible.
What I like to do besides the editorial activity: I like to listen to the sea, to the chirping of birds and to absolute silence. I would choose any trip to unknown places, especially now. I bake bread with great pleasure, and for eight years I have been following the most special phenomenon that can exist in one’s life – I have been watching my grandson Ștefănel growing up.

    VICTOR MOȘNEAG
    Deputy Editor-in-chief
    Birthplace: Cucuruzeni, Orhei / Chisinau
Education: Faculty of Journalism and Communication Sciences, Moldova State University
Work experience: I started collaborating with ZdG in 2008, after the first year of internship. Between May and October 2010, I became a sports journalist, and senior editor at the Sports Department, Publika TV. Then I went back to ZdG and I grew up with ZdG.
Responsibilities at ZdG: I do many things. Sometimes investigations, other times interviews or news. Since the beginning of 2020, I participate more actively in the development and improvement of the site www.zdg.md.
When and why I came to ZdG: I came to ZdG for the annual internship, after my first year of studies. I saw in a newspaper at the university library that the newspaper did not have the sports section and I decided to give life to that section. When I got to the newsroom, however, I did anything but sports news. What I currently do at ZdG somehow fuels my desire to do justice, a desire I previously wanted to realize from the position of lawyer, judge, or prosecutor.
What I like to do besides the editorial work: I play football, even at six in the morning. I watch football, but also other sports. I look forward to seeing Juventus Torino win the Champions League every year. I consume news and information even when I am not at work. I like the sea very much and traveling. I also have a dream. To live by the sea or at least near the beach of an ocean 🙂, in a country where there is no winter.
Awards: 2017, 1st prize in CEI and SEEMO Award for special merits in investigative journalism; 2016, 2017, 2018 – Reporting Investigations Contest on Corruption, UNDP Moldova; 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018 – The author of the best investigation within API; 2012 – The best journalist of the year, according to the IJC; 2010, 1st prize in “Reflecting the phenomenon of corruption in the written press”, a contest organized by Transparency International Moldova; 2009, 2011 – The best journalist of the year within API.

    PETRU GROZAVU
    Editorialist

Work experience: 44 years in audiovisual and written press: Radio-Moldova, Flux, Alfa şi Omega, DTV, Accente, Ziarul de Gardă.
Responsibilities at ZdG:  I am an editorialist. I follow intently the events and write opinion pieces about anyone and anything that ruins our lives and prevents us from living humanely.
When and why I came to ZdG: I have been with  ZdG since 2005. It was a challenge. It was a different product on our media market, a brave newspaper, uncensored, uncontrolled politically, inconvenient to power, which was not simply written, but “cultivated” and in which freedom, primarily creative, was on everyone’s account.
What I like to do besides the editorial activity: I like to read, to travel (although I have less and less time for it), I am passionate about fishing (I was born on the Danube). I have also had an informal activity for many years: I am the President of the Cultural Society Danube and the Sea which concerns the Romanian community in the Historical Budjak.

What I do at ZdG: I try to investigate, after I spent four years making news, written and video reports, running after politicians and asking questions that “statesmen” would not answer.
When and why I came to ZdG: After I got my diploma in 2015, I came to Ziarul de Gardă to get experience and to learn, convinced that true journalism means investigations and that my ultimate goal in the press is to conduct investigations, so that I can be identified one day with the team that “tells the truth”.
