After Ilan Shor was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Thursday, April 13, the head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Veronica Dragalin, being a guest on a TV show, came up with new details about the conviction of the Shor Party chairman.
The head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office explained that the previously seized amount of 5 billion lei will be confiscated and paid to the Savings Bank.
“More than 7 billion lei worth of assets have been seized, but this includes not only Ilan Shor’s assets. The amount of assets belonging to Ilan Shor is around 1 billion lei,” she added.
At the same time, Dragalin said that, in her opinion, the chances of Ilan Shor being extradited by the Israeli authorities have now increased, after the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeal will become enforceable.
“I believe that now, once we have a final decision, this will help the argument why he should be extradited and brought to Moldova,” the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said.
According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at 17:55, after two days of judicial debates, the Chisinau Court of Appeal handed down the decision in the Shor case, which is part of the ,,Bank Fraud” case, in which Ilan Shor was found guilty and was sentenced to 15 years in prison, in a closed prison, with deprivation of the right to hold positions in the banking system for 5 years. According to the decision, Ilan Shor is required to repay to the Savings Bank, which is in liquidation, about 5.2 billion lei.
