Seven non-judge candidates for positions in the Superior Council of Magistracy heard by the Pre-Vetting Commission

The Pre-Vetting Commission announces that it has concluded the public hearings of non-judge candidates for the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM). Out of the 12 candidates with professional experience in law or other relevant field included in the list of candidates forwarded to the Pre-Vetting Commission by the Parliament, seven candidates attended the hearings, as two candidates withdrew from the competition, two other candidates did not submit their declaration for 5 years on time, thus being disqualified, and one candidate requested to be evaluated without attending the hearings.

On 1-9 March, according to the Pre-Vetting Committee, Tatiana Chiriac, Tatiana Ciaglic, Ion Guzun, Angela Popil, Valentin Caisîn, Alexandru Postică and Alexandru Rotari were heard in public hearings and answered questions from Committee members to clarify some relevant aspects of the evaluation process.

“According to the Law No. 26/2022 on some measures related to the selection of candidates for membership in the self-administrative bodies of judges and prosecutors and the Evaluation Regulation, the video recordings of the hearings were published on the website of the Pre-Vetting Commission www.vetting.md and the Youtube channel

In the coming period, the Pre-Vetting Commission will work on drafting decisions on whether non-judge candidates will be promoted or not. Similar to the group of judicial candidates, non-judges are assessed by the Pre-Vetting Commission in order to become eligible for membership of the CSJ,” says a Commission press release.

In parallel with its work on decisions, the Pre-Vetting Commission says it is also assessing candidates for membership of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP).
