Romanian national suspected of shooting a man in Romania detained by Moldovan police officers
Moldovan police officers detained on 3 February in Moldova a Romanian national, who was issued an international search warrant on 2 February, on suspicion of attempted murder, the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) said.
“The 30-year-old man, residing in the municipality of Iași in Romania, is suspected of having shot a person in a car on 1 February, having been in conflict with the victim for a long time.
The suspect, using an Audi A5, fled from the scene, while leaving the neighbouring country and entering Moldova via the Sculeni PCTF. He was detained in Chisinau municipality together with his girlfriend,” according to the IGP.
During the hearing, the man told where the weapon was hidden after committing the crime. On the basis of this information, the Romanian police managed to find it. The police announce that the man will be extradited to Romania.
The arrest was carried out thanks to the intervention of the officers of the Organised Crime Investigation Directorate of the National Investigation Inspectorate, with the support of the Analytical Directorate of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), in cooperation with the employees of the General Inspectorate of Border Police.
