A suspected smuggler and a Customs Service employee detained for smuggling over 700 thousand lei worth of clothing into the country

The Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organised Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), together with the Customs Service, have detained a suspected smuggler and a Customs Service employee for smuggling over 700,000 lei worth of clothing items into the country.

According to PCCOCS, the searches took place on Thursday in Chisinau and Ungheni municipalities. As a result, telecommunications devices and documents were seized.

“The persons detained, aged 28 and 48 respectively, during the criminal prosecution are presumed innocent, according to the law,” PCCOCS announced.

The prosecution is continuing to investigate all aspects of the crime under investigation.
