A colonel of the force structures – detained for drug trafficking
Two men have been detained by prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), jointly with officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), for drug trafficking, one of them being a colonel of the force structures.
According to a PCCOCS release, the two are aged 40 and 43 respectively. The searches in Chisinau revealed PVP-type drugs (also known as “salt,” which produces cardiovascular and neurological symptoms such as paranoia and hallucinations), drug paraphernalia, five mobile phones, bank cards and money allegedly obtained from the sale of drugs.
One of the suspects was wanted after being sentenced to three years in prison for several offences, including illegal drug trafficking.
Following the searches, both were detained for 72 hours. PCCOCS prosecutors will now investigate the evidence and determine the need for pre-trial detention, during which time the two are presumed innocent by law.
