A doctor from Drochia under criminal investigation for passive bribery.
The head of the Family Doctors Section of IMSP CS Drochia is under criminal investigation for passive corruption, after being documented for a period by officers of the Northern Territorial General Directorate (DGT) of the National Anti-Corruption Centre (CNA) and prosecutors of the Northern Office of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA). The doctor allegedly demanded and received money to establish false diagnoses for some patients, and for a certificate he demanded between 100 and 200 euros, the CNA announced on Wednesday, October 12.
Today, the CNA and the PA carried out criminal prosecutions at the doctor’s home and office. Medical records, registers, certificates and telephones were seized from the scene.
According to the CNA, all the circumstances of the case are currently being investigated in order to establish other persons involved.
Investigators have found that, since June 2022, the head of the Section allegedly issued fictitious certificates to some people, indicating the need for urgent treatment abroad. The acts described were committed at a time when the Public Services Agency (ASP) announced the issuance of passports only in exceptional cases, including medical emergencies and the need for treatment abroad.
Thus, several people had their passports issued on an emergency basis, justifying their request by medical conclusions, prescribed by the suspect, and would have paid between 100 and 200 euros for a certificate.
Everyone is presumed innocent until a final and irrevocable court decision is handed down.
