Moldova to Borrow 30 Million Euros from EIB for the ”Moldova Energy Efficiency” Project
Moldova will borrow 30 million euros from the European Investment Bank to carry out the “Energy Efficiency in Moldova” Project. The Cabinet of Ministers approved in the meeting of Wednesday, December 8, the signing of the Financing Agreement between Moldova and the EIB.
The financing agreement provides for a 30 million euro loan from the EIB to carry out the “Energy Efficiency in Moldova” project, aimed at the energy rehabilitation of public institutions of national and local importance, such as hospitals, kindergartens, and schools.
Thus, Moldova is to contract a loan of 30 million euros from the EIB, another loan of 30 million euros from the EBRD, a grant of 15 million euros from the Commission’s Neighborhood Investment Platform, as well as a grant of 500,000 euros from the Eastern Partnership Technical Assistance Trust Fund, with a project implementation period of 4 years (2022 – 2025).
According to the provisions of the financing agreement, the loan from the EIB will be granted in ten installments, the minimum amount of which will be 1 million euros. A grace period of 5 years and a maximum period of 20 years from the receipt of each installment will be applied for the repayment of each tranche.

Institute of Emergency Medicine; Institute of Cardiology; Institute of Oncology; Mother and Child Institute; Republican Clinical Hospital; Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery; Republican Center for Medical Diagnosis; Bălți Clinical Hospital; Clinical Psychiatric Hospital; “HOPE” Center for the Recovery of the Elderly and Disabled.
