President Maia Sandu awarded the “Order of Honor” to the MEP Siegfried Mureșan, President of the European Parliament Delegation to the EU-Moldova Committee.
“We have awarded this distinction as a sign of appreciation of the support given to our goal of European integration and the efforts to strengthen democratic processes in Moldova. For many years, Siegfried Mureșan has been a friend and a promoter of our country’s interests in the institutions of the European Union, and thus he helped us to build a better life for all our citizens.”
President Maia Sandu met on Wednesday, December 1, with several members of the European Parliament delegation to the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee – Moldova – MEPs Siegfried Mureșan, Ramona Strugariu, Vlad Nistor, and Maria Grapini.
“I thank them for all the support given to our country by the European institutions both in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and in response to the gas crisis. We talked about Moldova’s priorities in relation to the EU and told them that European integration remains a key priority for us. The citizens of Moldova have given a strong signal that they want to see a European democracy at home, and we will continue the reforms to ensure this,” said Maia Sandu.
