We discussed with the Secretary General the implementation of the assistance projects included in the Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova for the years 2021-2024, which we launched together in April in Strasbourg, following the strategic cooperation previously initiated. This Plan aims to assist us in aligning legislation, institutions, and practice with European standards in the field of human rights, the rule of law, and democracy (…),” said Maia Sandu.
“I am glad to be in Moldova today for my first official visit as Secretary General of the Council of Europe. Madam President, allow me to begin by expressing my gratitude for the fact that you have invited me to come to Moldova (…). As far as you know, the cornerstone of our cooperation is the creation of a Council of Europe Action Plan for Moldova for the period 2021-2024, which we, Madam President, launched together in April. It covers all areas in which the Council of Europe cooperates with Moldova. During today’s meeting, I had the opportunity to appreciate the strong determination of the reform process, in particular the reform of the justice sector and the fight against corruption,” said the Secretary General of the Council of Europe.
