Moldovan Citizens Who Worked in Italy Will Receive Pensions
On November 3, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the draft law for the ratification of the Agreement between Moldova and Italy in the field of social security, signed in Rome on June 18.
The document establishes a framework of social security guarantees for migrant workers from Moldova, who carry out or have carried out a work activity on the territory of the Italian Republic.
Based on the agreement, the entitled persons will benefit from old-age pensions, disability pensions caused by general illnesses, disability pensions and allowances following work accidents or caused by occupational diseases, survivor’s pensions. According to the stipulations, each Contracting State shall pay the portion of the pension calculated in proportion to the period of insurance completed in its territory. Thus, the person will benefit from the benefits acquired in the states in which he carried out his activity, on the territory of the domicile state.
So far, Moldova has signed social security agreements with 16 states, 14 of which have been successfully implemented.
