Anatol Munteanu, Manager of the Human Rights Center declared that he has “a contract with Antena C”
After several attempts, ZDG (“Ziarul de Garda”, in English “The Guard Journal”) was able to have a several minutes phone call with the Manager of the Human Rights Center, which declared that he has “a contract with Antena C radio station”, and that’s why he lets them interview him.
“We have a contract with Antena C and that’s why he discussed with them”, said Anatol Munteanu, the Manager of the Human Rights Center for ZDG. He refused a dialog with the Guard Journal, saying that he is still busy. According to his position, the Human Rights Center is a public institution and “Antena C” is a private channel.
“It is impossible for a public institution to have a contract with a specific channel. It is about free and equal access to information for all the journalists from Moldova and from abroad. Giving preferential information by a public institution is a law infringement”, said Doina Costin, jurist for mass-media problems from CIJ.
We would like to remind that for a couple of days we are insisting to the Human Rights Center to supply us any information or press release regarding the parliamentary lawyers visits in prisons. “There is no Center press release, because every parliamentary lawyer makes his own communicate”, a person from a Center antechamber told us. For a few days no official information from this Center was provided to the independent media institutions.
