Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița had a meeting on Tuesday, September 28, with Kadri Simson, European Commissioner for Energy, in which she discussed the supply of Moldova with gas and electricity.
“Officials spoke about the latest developments in this field, the role that the EU has in the development of the country’s energy sector, but also about the possibilities of completing projects started with neighboring countries and which can be an alternative in gas and electricity supply,” it is mentioned in the note of the Executive.
Gavrilița said that energy security, as well as energy efficiency, is a priority in the dialogue with the EU. Moreover, these topics are included in the Association Agenda for the period 2021-2027.
“We hope that we will make substantial progress in the coming years both in aligning our energy policies with European standards and in implementing concrete energy security projects. But in order to evolve and develop in this field, Moldova needs the support, consultancy, and experience of development partners,” said Gavrilița.
The European Commissioner for Energy expressed openness to a high-level dialogue on energy and confirmed the government’s support for implementing energy reforms.
