Negotiations in the 5 + 2 Format on the Transnistrian Settlement will be Resumed in Autumn this Year
Negotiations in the 5 + 2 format on the Transnistrian will be resumed this autumn. This was announced by the head of the OSCE Mission to Moldova Claus Neukirch during a meeting with the Parliament Speaker Zinaida Greceanii.
The Head of Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe reiterated the OSCE’s support in providing the necessary assistance and expertise in regard with the issues on human rights, the Transnistrian issue and the implementation of the Strategy on the Consolidation of the Interethnic Relations in Moldova.
The officials also discussed the activity of the Working Group on Cooperation between the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova and the People’s Assembly of the ATU Gagauzia. The activity will be examined by the Parliament and reformed according to the new legislative composition by the end of the current summer sitting.
The last round of negotiations in the 5 + 2 format took place on 29-30 May 2018 in Rome when the Rome Protocol was signed. The protocol established a series of understandings and obligations of the parties.
The 5 + 2 negotiations format includes representatives of the parties, mediators and observers: Moldova, the Transnistrian region, the OSCE, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, the European Union and the United States.
