President Maia Sandu and the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, are Invited to Participate in the Solemn Session of the General Assembly of the Council of Local Authorities of Romania and Moldova
President Maia Sandu, the Romanian President, Klaus Iohannis, the Romanian Prime Minister, Florin Cîțu, and other members of the Romanian Government are invited to participate in the solemn session of the General Assembly of the Council of Local Authorities of Romania and Moldova. which will take place in Sibiu, between September 16 and 19, according to a press release of the Sibiu County Council.
“The purpose of the protocol is to involve the Sibiu County Council and subordinate cultural institutions, namely the Sibiu State Philharmonic County Center for Preservation and Promotion of Traditional Cultures “Cindrelul Junii” Sibiu and ASTRA Sibiu National Music Complex, in jointly organizing the solemn session of The General Assembly of the Council of Local Authorities of Romania and Moldova, on September 17-18, 2021,” the communiqué reads.
The solemn meeting will take place on Friday, September 17, between 9 am and 6 pm, at the Thalia Hall, a building located in the public domain of Sibiu County and under the administration of the Sibiu State Philharmonic.
“Among the guests are the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, the President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, Prime Minister Florin Cîțu, along with some members of the Government, the Ambassador of the French Republic, Laurence Auer, as well as representatives of the Network of Local Authorities from South East Europe, the Association of Local and Regional Authorities of Norway and the franchise section of the Council of the Community and Regions of Europe,” the information note states.
The main topics that would be discussed are the analysis of ways to promote the rights and interests of local authorities in Moldova within the European institutions; supporting and promoting the participation of a delegation of the local authority of Moldova in the work of the European Committee of the Regions, as an observer; identification of concrete methods to support local authorities in Moldova that will contribute to increasing their administrative capacity; identification of funding sources for actions in support of local authorities in Moldova and launch of a pilot funding program; adopting a strategy and action plan to develop cooperative relations between local authorities; debating the ways of participation of the representatives of the Romanian Government as well as of the Government of Moldova at the sessions of the General Assembly of the Council of Local Authorities of Romania and Moldova.
