Prosecutors Request to Extend the Pre-Trial Detention of Former General Police Inspectorate Chief Alexandru Pînzari
Prosecutors have filed a motion to extend the pre-trial detention of former Chief of the General Police Inspectorate Alexandru Pînzari.
Pînzari, detained on July 30, in the case of the former Directorate no.5, on May 5, received 30 days in custody on August 1.
Alexandru Pînzari was detained after searching the car and his home, from where, according to prosecutors, electronic devices and documents were seized.
After the arrest, a message was posted on Alexandru Pînzari’s Facebook page, through his family, in which he says that he is responsible for every action and is responsible only for what he did.
“In this case, I did not violate the legislation, and everything I have to communicate to those who manage the case I will communicate and I will be maximum transparent and open.”
According to the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, Alexandru Pînzari is suspected of having committed certain criminal acts during his time as head of the General Police Inspectorate.
The Chișinău Court of Appeal rejected on Monday, August 9, the appeals of Pînzari’s defense, filed against the decision of the Chișinău Court, Ciocana headquarters, which ordered the application of the arrest regarding him.
On July 7, Dorin Damir, former head of the Special Operations Department no. 5 and current head of the Bălți Police Inspectorate Valeriu Cojocaru, but also the former head of section no. 1 “K” of Directorate no. 5, current inspector within the Border Police Ion Cojocaru, were placed in custody for 30 days, in the case regarding the activity of the employees of the former Directorate no.5, May 5th.
On August 3, the Chișinău Court, Ciocana headquarters ordered the extension of pre-trial detention for another 30 days for both the president of the FEA Association, Dorin Damir, and the head of the Police Inspectorate of Bălți, former head of the Special Operations Directorate no. 5 Valeriu Cojocaru, but also the former head of section no. 1 „K” of the Directorate no. 5, current inspector of the Border Police Ion Cojocaru.
