The Moldovan and the Romanian Ministers of Agriculture will Have a Meeting in September
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry of Moldova, Viorel Gherciu, is due to have a meeting in September with the Romanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Nechita-Adrian Oros, to discuss bilateral cooperation in the agri-food sector.
Officials set up a meeting in September to discuss in detail bilateral cooperation in the sector, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry said.
During the telephone conversation between the two officials, the Moldovan minister informed his counterpart that the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry is interested in taking over the experience and exchanging good practices in order to:
- create the agricultural credit guarantee fund
- establish a Twinning Program for the Agency for Intervention and Payments for Agriculture
- facilitating cooperation between small-scale production and access to the local market.
Also, Minister Viorel Gherciu mentioned that the Romanian experience in amending the legislation on public procurement of food for children is important, emphasizing the quality of products, giving priority to local products, purchased directly from producers in the immediate vicinity of the town, without intermediaries.
