President Maia Sandu at the Crimea Platform Summit in Ukraine: “Crimea is Ukraine, and its illegal annexation is a violation of the international law”
“Crimea is Ukraine, and its illegal annexation is a violation of international law,” Moldovan President Maia Sandu told the Crimea Platform summit.
“I am here to reaffirm Moldova’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. Crimea is part of Ukraine, and its illegal annexation is a flagrant violation of international law. Moldova has been and will continue to be your reliable partner. We support Resolution 68/262 “Territorial Integrity of Ukraine” of the United Nations General Assembly, as well as its subsequent resolutions,” Maia Sandu said.
Delegates from 46 countries are attending the opening of the “Crimea Platform” summit.
Since March 2014, the EU has progressively imposed restrictive measures against Russia, taken in response to the “illegal annexation of Crimea and the deliberate destabilization of Ukraine”.
In March 2014, the Council decided to freeze the assets of individuals responsible for embezzling funds from the Ukrainian state, measures that were extended until March 6, 2022.
Measures extended until June 23, 2022:
- an import ban on goods originating in Crimea and Sevastopol
- restrictions on trade and investment related to certain economic sectors and infrastructure projects
- a ban on providing tourist services in the Crimea and Sevastopol
- an export ban on certain goods and technologies
