The Moldovan and the Romanian Ministers of Interior announce that “they join forces against smugglers and traffickers.”
During the first conversation, the ministers Ana Revenco and Lucian Nicolae Bode discussed “the imperative of border security and the resumption of joint patrol at the Moldovan-Romanian border, the organization of joint investigation teams on cases of smuggling and cross-border crime, the importance of appointing the internal affairs attaché of Romania, being agreed the need to organize the sectoral meeting of the Ministry of Interior teams from Moldova and Romania.”
The officials issued mutual invitations to pay working visits to Bucharest and Chișinău, and finally, the Romanian Interior Minister invited the Moldovan side to participate in the opening conference of the project “Cross-border cooperation Romania-Moldova – a safer area by improving infrastructure for the operation of the Mobile Emergency, Resuscitation and Release Service (SMURD), increasing the level of training and maintaining the capacity of emergency response personnel – SMURD 2.”
During the telephone conversation, the officials also addressed issues regarding “global challenges caused by climate change, in this sense Minister Ana Revenco informed the Romanian counterpart about the deployment of Moldovan rescuers in the mission to extinguish forest fires in the Hellenic Republic, emphasizing that participation in supporting colleagues from the EU is also due to the cooperation and the continuous exchange of experience with the Romanian side.”
