Prime Minister Maia Sandu was on an official visit to Bucharest, on July 2. This was the first external visit she made after taking office. The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis said that it is very important and symbolic that the first visit of Prime Minister Sandu and the Government from Chisinau takes place in Bucharest.
During the meeting Klaus Iohannis said that Chisinau officials will have all of his support, as well as of Romania, in the commitment of the new coalition on the European path.
“It is very important and symbolic that this first official visit since taking office takes place in Romania in Bucharest. It is important because Romania was, is and will be the biggest backer of the Republic of Moldova. At the same time, I would like to assure them of all the support of Romania and of my own for the efforts of the Government of Chisinau for the European path of the Republic of Moldova, ” said the President of Romania.
Moreover, during the meeting between Sandu and Iohannis, an agreement was reached. According to it Romania will provide the necessary assistance for the consolidation of the institutions of the Republic of Moldova.
Thus, a group of experts from relevant ministries will be created in order to identify areas where assistance is needed.
In turn, Sandu thanked the Romanian authorities, but also the Romanian citizens for their unconditional support.
“I would like to thank once again the Romanian authorities and the Romanian citizens for their unconditional support. I am sure that the new milestone fixed today will further contribute to our collaboration. It is the first official bilateral visit after taking office and convincingly reflects the importance and interest that the new government attaches to the special and privileged relations with Romania in the strategic partnership for the European integration of the Republic of Moldova, ” said Sandu.
The head of the Executive is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Năstase and Counselor Vlad Kulminski, along with a delegation from the Parliament, headed by ACUM deputy Iurie Renita, Sergiu Litvinenco and the socialist Ion Ceban.
Maia Sandu also met with the Romanian Prime Minister Viorica Dăncilă, with the President of the Senate Călin Popescu-Tăriceanu, and also with the President of the Chamber of Deputies Marcel Ciolacu.
