Moldova Received 100,620 Pfizer / BioNTech Vaccines through COVAX
Moldova received 100,620 Pfizer / BioNTech vaccines free of charge through the COVAX platform, a partnership between CEPI, Gavi, UNICEF, and WHO.
In total, 100,620 doses of Pfizer / BioNTech are stored at the National Agency for Public Health and are to be distributed to vaccination centers in the country. The Ministry of Health representatives claim that another 45,600 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine will be shipped via COVAX on May 24th.
Previously, 86,970 doses of vaccine were received, delivered by COVAX, 24,570 doses of Pfizer / BioNTech, and 62,400 doses of AstraZeneca.
The vaccination campaign in Moldova was launched on March 2, and to date, 275,627 people have been vaccinated. On 18 May, the National Immunization Committee decided to fully launch the third stage of vaccination against COVID-19.
