A 3.5 Million Dollars Grant From the World Bank to Moldova
President Maia Sandu signed a decree to initiate the negotiations on Financing Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association for the “Emergency Response to COVID-19” project.
At the beginning of December 2020, the Parliament approved the initiation of negotiations on the Grant Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association, with a view to additional funding for the “Emergency Response to COVID-19” project. Moldova could benefit from a grant of 3.48 million US dollars from the World Bank to limit the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The money will be directed to the prevention, detection, and response to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the Republic of Moldova.
Additional funding will be provided from the Pandemic Funding Mechanism Fund to support increased testing and laboratory capacity, the acquisition of additional mobile X-ray diagnostic systems, and training for medical workers
The grant agreement will be implemented by January 31, 2021.
