Former Party Leader Risks Losing Part of His Wealth
Dumitru Diacov, former president and current deputy of the Democratic Party risks losing part of his fortune after the National Integrity Authority found a considerable difference between the acquired wealth and the income obtained consisting of over 30,000 euros.
The National Integrity Authority verified Diacov’s declarations of wealth and personal interests for the period 2014 – 2019. The integrity inspector found the existence of a substantial difference, in the amount of over 30,000 euros, between the acquired wealth and the incomes obtained by the deputy and his wife. Although Diacov had the right to express his position in the control procedure, he could justify only part of his property.
Following the findings, the National Integrity Authority will send the case to the court to initiate the procedure of confiscation of the unjustified wealth. If the act issued by the institution remains final, the deputy risks no longer holding a public office or public dignity, including the deputy mandate for a period of 3 years.
