Igor Dodon, leader of the Socialist’s Party, lost a case filed against him by the Platform for Gender Equality at the Equality Council after giving a speech on “women without families and traditional values” during the presidential election campaign. The Socialist was advised to make a public apology for sexist statements and inciting discrimination.
“We, the Platform for Gender Equality, won the case at the Equality Council against Dodon, for his speech about women without families and values. The council recommended Igor Dodon to make a public apology for sexist statements and incitement to discrimination,” announced one of the members of the Platform.
In the 2020 presidential election campaign, Igor Dodon attacked his opponent, Maia Sandu, several times. Igor Dodon then spoke about the differences between him and his opponent, Maia Sandu. He listed 3 great things that distinguish them and emphasized the values he shares.
“What are my opponent’s values?” Zero values. Just empty words. How can she talk about values, if she had no family in her life, she had nothing, she was on these marches [LGBT+ e.n.] through Chișinău, she hates our history. I understand that some see one way, others the other, but the vast majority of our citizens love this country, they love traditions, values. The people do not dress in traditional clothes just to make selfies for holidays like Maia Sandu. You have to feel this thing in your soul, you have to love the citizens, the people, to help them, one does not walk like a scared woman when a man approaches you. Last year, in the president’s office, I pressed her in a corner and I asked: Ms. Sandu, why are you so scared? Let’s meet, let me introduce you to my wife and children. God forbid! This is the difference between values,” Igor Dodon declared then.
