The General Prosecutor’s Office confirms to ZdG the detention of the former anti-corruption prosecutor Roman Statnîi, a former subordinate of the suspended head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, Viorel Morari. He was detained by prosecutors after being recognized and heard as a suspect in excess of power, forgery in public acts, illegal detention or arrest, and prosecuting an innocent person.
According to the prosecutors, all these actions were committed against the co-owners of the VENTO gas station network, Igor and Adrian Borș, to whom, Statnîi in co-participation with Viorel Morari, two police officers, and others would have falsified a criminal case. The prosecutor’s office reiterates that brothers Igor and Adrian Borș, co-owners of the VENTO gas station network, were rehabilitated in rights after it was concluded that in 2018 they were persecuted, detained, arrested, deprived of wealth, and illegally taken to criminal liability.
Roman Statnîi also appears in a case in which he is accused of fraud in large proportions and excess of power, committed in the interest of an organized criminal group – actions that would have led to the dispossession of a Russian citizen’s goods and money, worth over 1.8 million euros.
Today, the former prosecutor will be charged, after which it will be decided on the applicable preventive measure.
