The President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is coming to Chișinău. It is the first official visit of a head of state during Maia Sandu’s term. The presidents will adopt a joint declaration to strengthen the bilateral partnership.
The president of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, is coming to Chișinău on Tuesday, December 29, for the first official visit of a head of state during Maia Sandu’s term. The two presidents will address several issues related to the support that Romania can offer to Moldova to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, but also in the economic and social development.
During the visit, the two presidents will adopt
“a joint declaration aimed at strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership, reaffirming the special relationship between Bucharest and Chișinău on the anniversary of ten years since the signing of the Strategic Partnership for European Integration of Moldova, as well as the commitment of Moldova to follow the European path and to implement the necessary democratic reforms. The visit of the president of Romania will send a strong message of support for the new Moldovan president in a historic moment for the European course of the country” says the communique.
Klaus Iohannis last visited Chișinău in February 2015, at the beginning of his first term, during Nicolae Timofti’s presidency. During Igor Dodon’s term, the president of Romania was not in Moldova.
