The Current Government Resigned
The government led by Ion Chicu has resigned, the Prime Minister announced.
The prime minister says he made the decision after consulting with President Igor Dodon and Parliament President Zinaida Greceanîi. Chicu says that he hopes to have a meeting with Maia Sandu today and will return with other details.
The Chicu government was invested on November 14, 2019 with the vote of the Socialist Party and Democratic Party of Moldova.
The President of the Parliament, Zinaida Greceanii, announced that the Parliament’s sitting scheduled for today will not take place.
“Parliament’s sitting was scheduled for today to debate the no-confidence motion. From the moment Ion Chicu announced the Government resignation, the sitting will not take place”, said Greceanîi.
