A 3.5 Million Dollars Grant to Fight COVID-19
The Foreign Policy and European Integration Committee approved the starting of negotiations and approval of the Grant Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association, for additional funding for the COVID-19 Emergency Response project.
The project’s objectives are to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in Moldova. Additional funding will be provided from the Pandemic Funding Mechanism Fund to support increased testing and laboratory capacity, the acquisition of additional mobile X-ray diagnostic systems, and training for medical workers.
“The additional funding will further increase the impact and effectiveness of the development of the core project, helping to expand the country’s capacity to detect COVID-19 cases,” the project briefing notes.
The grant agreement will be implemented by January 31, 2021.
According to the legal provisions, in the case of international treaties, the adoption of the decision is preceded by the consultation of the Parliament.
