September Opens Up The Arena For The Moldovan Presidential Elections 2020
The fall season of 2020 brings a significant event in Moldova. The Moldovan citizens, along with the prospective candidates, enter another presidential election.
The election process began on August 25. The candidates must collect and prove the supporters’ signatures to the Electoral Commission from September 1- October 1.
The Electoral Code provisions say that the Electoral Commission registers the candidates, after submitting the subscription lists, with the signatures of at least 15,000 and no more than 25,000 voters.
Presidential elections will take place on November 1. So far, there are seven nominations for the position. Maia Sandu (former Prime Minister, PAS Party), Tudor Deliu (Liberal Democrat Party), Renato Usatii (mayor of the Bălți District, OUR Party), Andrei Nastase (DA Platform Party), Octavian Țîcu, Andrian Candu (Pro Moldova Party)- deputies in the Parliament and Dorin Chirtoacă (former Chișinău mayor, UNIREA electoral bloc).
