Moldovan Banks Attracted Term Deposits Worth Over €115.65, Five Percent Less Compared with the Last Year
According to the National Bank of Moldova, the banks attracted around 64.2 percent deposits in lei and 35.8 percent in foreign currency.
Thus, the volume of deposits attracted in national currency was €74.3 million (1. 46 billion lei), increasing by 19.6 percent compared to the previous month, but decreasing by four percent compared to July 2019.
At the same time, the banks attracted deposits in foreign currency worth around €41.35 million (812.8 million lei). The deposits in foreign currency increased by 23 percent compared to the previous month but decreased by 6.9 percent compared to July 2019.
According to the National Bank, in July 2020, the banks attracted more deposits of individuals, around 74.5 percent. From these deposits of individuals, around 46.9 percent are in lei and 27.6 percent are in foreign currency.
The most attractive deposits were those with a six-twelve months term, constituting around 39.7 percent of the total volume of term deposits.
