The Parliament ratified the Financing Agreement between Moldova and the International Development Association (IDA) on the Emergency Response to COVID-19 Project implementation.

On May 21, the Parliament ratified the financing agreement between Moldova and the IDA, on implementing the Emergency Response to COVID-19 project.

The value of the project is almost €53 million. Its objectives are to prevent, detect, and respond to the threat posed by the COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

The first part of the project, worth €52.3 million, is to provide immediate support to prevent the onset of COVID-19 or to limit local transmission by implementing quarantine strategies.

Included measures are to improve case confirmation, strengthen the health system to ensure the care of patients with COVID-19 in the critical phase and minimize the risk of infecting patients and healthcare workers, provide social and financial support to households, raise awareness among decision-makers and the public, etc.

The second part includes the management, monitoring, and evaluation of the implementation, amounting to €0.6 million, which consists of carrying out the project management activities.

The project will be implemented for two years, until April 30, 2022. It contains standard conditions provided for the credits offered by the International Development Association.
