    The National Anticorruption Center Detains Two State Officials for Taking a Bribe of Over 2,000 Euros

    The National Anticorruption Center detained the head of the Migration and Asylum Bureau, the northern office, and an inspector from the same office. According to the National Anticorruption Center, the two officials are under criminal investigation because they took a bribe of over 2,000 euros (40,000 lei).

    The National Anticorruption Center detained the head of the Migration and Asylum Bureau, the northern office, and an inspector from the same office, on April 23. The National  Anticorruption Center caught the state officials while they were about to receive a bribe.

    ZdG asked the National Anticorruption Center about the two officials. The press officer from the National Anticorruption Center told us that the two officials were caught red-handed after they received over 2,000 euros (40,000 lei).

    At the same time, both state officials are suspected of having claimed 2,000 euros from a foreign citizen. In exchange for the money, the state officials promised to turn a blind eye on the violation of the immigration law. 

    According to the National Anticorruption Center officials, both people are under criminal investigation for passive corruption.
