Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting is on a Three-Day Working Visit to Moldova
Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting, O.S.C.E. Special Representative for the Transnistrian Settlement Process is on a three-day working visit to Moldova. During his visit, he met with state officials, local political parties and representatives of the civil society.
Mr. Thomas Mayr-Harting met with Moldova’s Prime Minister Ion Chicu on January 22 discussing a wide range of topics, including freedom of movement in the Security Zone, joint control of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border on the Transnistrian segment, tariffs on mobile telephony and respect for human rights.
During his visit from January 21 to 23, the O.S.C.E. Special Representative for the Transdniestrian Settlement Process Ambassador Thomas Mayr-Harting will hold talks with high-level Moldovan officials and the political leadership in Tiraspol.
In his capacity as the Special Representative of the O.S.C.E. Albanian Chairmanship, Mayr-Harting will review the current state of affairs in the Transdniestrian settlement process and together with the Sides, will identify the priorities for 2020.
In the last days, he already met with President Igor Dodon, Prime Minister Ion Chicu, Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Alexandru Flenchea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Aureliu Ciocoi, as well as leaders of political parties, the resident Ambassadors of the 5+2 mediators and observers, as well as members of civil society.
On January 23, he will meet the leader of the breakaway Transnistrian region, Vadim Krasnoselsky and Chief Negotiator Vitaly Ignatiev.
