The Minister of Internal Affairs, Andrei Năstase, specified that to reform the police a thorough audit would be necessary.

The Minister declared in an interview for Radio Moldova that with the support of the European Union the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinated structures would be able to perform a thorough audit in Autumn.

“We had the support of the international institutions and I hope that in September-October we will be able to start this complex audit, which will be the basis of a fundamental reform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and its subordinated structures. Some may see it as something small, but to me it seems important to lay the foundation of a sound police, not as it has been done so far,” Năstase added.

The minister also mentioned that he is working on a very important project regarding the training of people within the Ministry and its subordinated structures by experts from Romania and other E.U. countries.
