Security and Intelligence Service announces it has broken up a criminal group promoting fascism
The Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) announces that, in cooperation with prosecutors from the PCCOCS, they have identified and dismantled the activities of a criminal group which, during 2023, was promoting fascist and anti-Semitic messages on online channels.
According to an SIS press release, following the documentation of the criminal activity, two suspects, aged 34 and 17 years old, residing in Chisinau, were identified and summoned for a hearing. They are passionate about literature on the subject of Holocaust denial and are active supporters of anti-Semitic ideology. According to the SIS, they are said to have become active in the context of the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian armed conflict.
Following the initiation of criminal proceedings and the summoning of the suspects to the specialised prosecutor’s office, the Telegram channel was deleted.
The SIS reports that it has observed tendencies of irresponsible behaviour on the part of some citizens who display in public graphic emblems and insignia that may provoke conflict situations on grounds of ideological, political and national hatred, which creates risks of undermining the peaceful coexistence of the multi-ethnic and multilingual people of Moldova. In this context, actions aimed at identifying, preventing and counteracting risk factors and threats will be continued, in accordance with the powers provided for by the legislative framework.
