Authorities announce they have uncovered a meeting of “criminal authorities” from Moldova and Ukraine to share spheres of influence
Officers of the Department for Combating Organized Crime and Criminal Prosecution of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), together with prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), announce the uncovering of a meeting of “criminal authorities from Moldova and Ukraine”, which was taking place in a Chisinau venue, a Moldovan police statement said.
“It was aimed at sharing spheres of influence and appointing supervisors, in both states. The searches were carried out with the assistance of employees of “Lightning,” as a result of which 18 participants (aged between 25 and 55) were identified, from whom phones and blank weapons were seized,” the statement added.
The individuals, who during the investigations are presumed innocent, are under criminal investigation for creating or leading a “criminal organisation, either conducting gatherings of its members”.
