MP Marina Tauber, found by National Integrity Authority with substantial unjustified difference between her wealth, income and expenses in two years. What the MP risks
The National Integrity Authority (ANI) announced on Friday, 10 November, that it has completed its control of the wealth and personal interests of Marina Tauber, a member of parliament of the former “Șor” party, declared unconstitutional, investigated in the case of “accepting illegal financing from an organised criminal group”.
Integrity inspectors have verified the changes in assets up to March 31, 2020. Thus, according to ANI, during the control procedure, a substantial difference in the total amount of 324,814.17 lei was found between the wealth acquired, the income obtained and the expenses made between August 1, 2016 and December 31, 2018.
“The substantial difference was generated by the cash replenishment of the card accounts held under management, including credit and payment for services by the subject under control,” an ANI statement said.
The subject has the right to contest the act of finding, and the confiscation of the unjustified wealth is ordered only by an irrevocable court decision.
If the finding remains final, Tauber could be stripped of the right to hold public office and public dignity, with the exception of elective office, for a period of three years.
Earlier, ZdG wrote that before joining the legislature, Tauber served as mayor of Jora de Mijloc for almost a year. Before entering politics in 2016, she was president of the Moldovan Tennis Federation for six years. Ilan Shor’s former schoolmate is listed in both Kroll reports on the theft of the billion from the three banks. According to the report, Tauber, along with other Unibank shareholders, allegedly acted in concert to benefit Ilan Shor.
In 2020, Tauber’s wealth was the pretext for two complaints to the ANI and the PG. At the time, the author of the petition, former Socialist MP Marina Radvan, said that the data in Marina Tauber’s asset declarations raised doubts.
