Moldovan Authorities Issue Progress Report on National Action Plan for Implementing the E.U.- Moldova Association Agreement
According to the latest progress report, Moldovan authorities have managed to carry out nearly fifty percent of the National Action Plan for implementing the E.U.–Moldova Association Agreement. The country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration released the 2019 progress report on the plan’s implementation on August 7.
According to the report, the authorities have managed to implement 48.83 percent of the Action plan, completing 63 of the 129 total actions. 66 actions remain to be implemented.
Three criminal cases have been opened in response to the investigation into the multi-billion dollar bank fraud in 2014. What’s more, the authorities stated that on July 1, the prosecuting body of the National Anticorruption Center opened 22 criminal cases related to the bank fraud, eight of which involved 14 accused persons and are to be completed this year.

The Ministry also praised the actions taken in the field of economic cooperation, social policy, industrial policy, but also equal opportunities for men and women.
However, the report also shows that the authorities have yet to carry out a number of important actions, such as approving the National Waste Management Program and National Anti-drug Strategy, and extending the use of the Facial Recognition System in policing.
The European Union and the Republic of Moldova signed the Association Agreement in Brussels, Belgium on June 27, 2014. Moldova’s Parliament ratified the agreement on July 2, 2014 and the European Parliament ratified it on November 13, 2014.
