EU diplomacy chief’s message ahead of EPC Summit: “I hope that the presence of so many leaders here, close to the Ukrainian border, sends a strong message about the unity of so many states”
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, Vice-President of the European Commission (EC), who is attending the European Political Community (EPC) Summit, hopes that “the presence of so many leaders here, close to the Ukrainian border, sends a strong message about the unity of so many states”. The statement was made a short while ago.
“Another attack on Kiev. Two children are dead. It is another proof that Russia continues to attack the civilian population in Ukraine. I hope that the presence of so many leaders here, close to the border of Ukraine, sends a strong message about the unity of so many states, not only in Ukraine, in terms of defending the international order, the right of people to defend their sovereignty. Russia is not here not because we did not want to invite them but because Putin excluded Russia from this community when he launched an unjustified war in Ukraine,” said Josep Borrell.
Moldova is hosting the European Political Community Summit on 1 June 2023, bringing together for the first time 50 European presidents, prime ministers and senior officials, according to the Media Group for Security News on the 2023 European Political Community Summit to be held in Moldova (GMSS-EPC).
The summit takes place at Mimi Castle in the village of Bulboaca, Anenii Noi district, about 35 kilometres from Chisinau. The European Political Community is a pan-European governmental forum set up last year in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, serving as a platform that brings together European leaders to discuss and identify solutions to Europe’s most pressing problems, such as security, stability and energy resilience.
At the European Political Community summit on 1 June, the 50 heads of state and government will be served dishes cooked according to reinterpreted traditional recipes, organisers announced. As an appetizer, guests will taste the traditional sausages, filled with Moldovan-style stewed vegetables, covered with Saperavi wine glaze and smoked cream.
