The interim vice-president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals, Ghenadie Mîra, was appointed as interim president of the Chisinau Court of Appeals at the meeting of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) held on Thursday, May 11.

“With 8 “pro” votes, the SCM plenary decided: the interim vice-president of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Ghenadie Mîra, is appointed to exercise the function of interim president of the Chisinau Court of Appeal, starting from 16 May until the substitution of the function in the manner established by law”, said the interim president of the SCM, Nina Cernat.

Earlier Ziarul de Gardă wrote that Ghenadie Mîra works as a judge in a district centre, but lives in a Chisinau apartment, purchased in 2017. The 65-square-meter apartment is located in a block on Hâncești road and cost the magistrate 375 thousand lei. Also in 2017, Mîra owns a 13.8-square-meter space, purchased for 36 thousand lei. He also has an apartment of about 34 square meters, purchased in 2003 for about 192 thousand lei.

Ghenadie Mîra has 11 years of judicial experience, having been appointed to a five-year term as a judge at the Soroca Court in 2011.

In 2017, Ghenadie Mîra served as president of the Anenii Noi Court for four years.

In 2022, the judge was appointed to serve as interim vice-president of the Chisinau Court of Appeal and president of the civil, commercial and administrative disputes panel of the court, until the position is filled in the manner established by law.

In 2016 and 2019, Ghenadie Mîra was evaluated by the College for the Evaluation of Judges’ Performance, each time with the rating “very good”. The magistrate’s name appears in two decisions of the Disciplinary College issued in 2017 and 2021, but the complaints against him were declared unfounded.

The decision was taken in the context of the vacancy of the position of interim president as of 16 May 2023. Members of the SCM accepted on Thursday the request to withdraw the application for annulment of the resignation filed by Judge Anatolie Minciuna of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.

On 16 March, members of the Superior Council of Magistracy (SCM) voted on the resignation of five judges, including Anatolie Minciuna, interim president of the Chisinau Court of Appeal.
