Two candidates for the position of member of the SCP withdrew from the competition by failing the Pre-Vetting Committee’s assessment
The pre-vetting commission announced on Thursday, April 20, that the acting chief prosecutor of the Anenii Noi District Prosecutor’s Office, Aureliu Buzdugan, and the prosecutor in the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, Buiucani Office, Remus Moroz, candidates for the position of member of the Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP), did not pass the evaluation due to their withdrawal from the competition.
The Commission’s decisions were forwarded to the candidates and to the institution responsible for organising the competition, in this case the Superior Council of Prosecutors. Decisions may be appealed to the Supreme Court of Justice within 5 days of receipt. The Commission will place the decisions on its website, in depersonalised form, unless candidates object to publication.
13 prosecutor candidates and one civil society representative, proposed by the Academy of Sciences, remained in the competition for membership of the PSC. They are being assessed by the Pre-Vetting Committee on financial and ethical integrity, with a 15-year period of scrutiny.
The hearings of the candidates start on Friday 21 April. Only those who pass the evaluation will be eligible for election to the new composition of the High Council of Prosecutors.
