IGP: Two male suspects planning to attend protest taken to police headquarters for documentation
Two male suspects carrying prohibited items, including flammable substances, and intending to participate in the rally announced by the “Movement for the People”, which includes the “Shor” party, were taken to police headquarters for documentation, the General Police Inspectorate (IGP) announced on Sunday, March 12.
Representatives of the institution published some photos of the suspects.
The General Inspectorate of Police (IGP) has broken up the operation planned for Sunday, March 12, during the protest announced by the “Movement for the People”, of which the “Shor” party is a member, where it was intended to “organize destabilizing actions and mass disorder”. The statements were made by the head of the National Police, Viorel Chernăuțeanu, during a press briefing, where he gave details of the scheme hatched by some citizens of the Russian Federation.
According to the head of the IGP, specialized services from the Russian Federation are involved in possible actions to destabilize Moldova. Diversionists were to be organised in 10 groups of 5 to 10 people, and for provoking law enforcement and creating corridors to organise destabilisation during protests, they were to be paid 10 thousand dollars each.
Diversionists were recruited from among people with criminal records and sportsmen and relied on “certain opposition forces in Moldova who will provide lawyers and support if necessary,” the National Police chief added.
Representatives of the “People’s Movement”, which includes the “Shor” party, announced that on Sunday, 12 March, they will hold a rally against the government in front of Parliament.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu spoke at a briefing about the Russian Federation’s plans to destabilise Moldova and how state institutions are working to ensure the country’s security. The head of state said that documents had been received from our Ukrainian partners, which alleged the organisation of several subversive activities: “Through violent actions, disguised as protests by the so-called opposition, they would force a change of power in Chisinau”.
