Officers of the Organized Crime Investigation Directorate and the Analytical Directorate of the National Investigation Inspectorate (INI), together with policemen of the Causeni Police Inspectorate under the direction of the Causeni Prosecutor’s Office, with the support of masked officers from the BPDS “Fulger” (“Lightning”, from Romanian), conducted nine house searches in the city of Causeni.

The raids were carried out on five people aged between 31 and 46, suspected of possessing weapons, silencers, heaters and other objects used for poaching in the territory of the district of Causeni, reports the General Police Inspectorate (IGP).

“As a result of the actions undertaken, eight weapons were detected and seized, including three with a rifled barrel, two with a smooth barrel, two heaters model “Zenit NV-400” and “Pulsar-THERMION” XP50, a silencer, a pistol with the inscription “POLICE kal.8mmk”, several scopes, hundreds of cartridges of different calibers illegally held.

The ammunition was adapted and used by the suspects for hunting wild animals, without proper authorization and during the prohibited period, at night (poaching),” Police representatives said in a statement.

The goods have been seized and police officers are continuing investigations under all legal aspects to establish the circumstances of the illegalities committed.

According to the legislation in force, the men risk imprisonment from 2 to 7 years.
