Searches in an oil smuggling case worth about 18 million lei
Prosecutors from the Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS), together with Customs Service officers, conducted raids on Thursday, February 2, in Chisinau and in the southern region of Moldova, in a case of oil smuggling to Serbia.
The smuggling of oil destined for Serbia is estimated at around 18 million lei. The raids were carried out to “uncover the scheme to export euro-diesel fuel to Serbia,” PCCOCS representatives said.
The crime took place during 2018. The smuggled product was exported in 60 trucks declared in customs as another product – “aromatic hydrocarbon-based thinner for petroleum bitumen”.
According to the authorities, the Serbian authorities are to be contacted for further investigation and holding the perpetrators of this crime accountable.
