Moldova welcome at EU summit despite crackdown

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS — A special gathering of MEPs together with the Romanian foreign minister in Brussels on Wednesday (15 April) said Moldova should be invited to an EU summit for eastern partners, despite recent violence.
«The EU will defend the rights of the democratic opposition, NGOs, those detained and killed in prison. On that we shall not compromise. But it is not through isolation that we can run our eastern policy,» Polish centre-right MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski said.

On the occasion of your visit to Princeton University to deliver the keynote address for the 2009 Princeton Colloquium on Public and International Affairs, we want to forward you the following letter of concern on behalf of the students and faculty from campus with regards to gross on-going human rights violations in the Republic of Moldova, stemming from events that occurred in the aftermath of the Parliamentary Elections. The police announced the family that Eugen hung himself with footwear laces

The family of Eugen Tsapu says the police declared that their son was found hanged in a building in Chisinau, who hanged himself with footwear laces. Eugen weight over 80 kg, and has no ordinary cut throat specific to suicide.

Aujourd’hui après midi, entre les heures 13-14, à l’Université Technique de Moldavie Alexandru Olevschi a été mis en garde a vu même pendant les cours.

Les collègues de la faculté nous ont expliqué que Alexandru a été pris, même pendant l’enseignement. «Aujourd’hui il enseignais une leçon en collaboration avec un autre professeur. Ainsi, son collègue est resté tout seul. Nous n’avons pas reçu aucune explication sur ce qui s’est passé, ils l’ont pris et c’est tout», avaient dit les collègues avec une mi-voix en ajoutant que sa détention a été faite dans le contexte des manifestations de la rue de la semaine dernière.

The parliamentary lawyers leaving “Antena C” forced the ZDG reporter

For a few days we are continuously asking to speak with those lawyers that are also members of the Parliament — the few from Republic Moldova that have access at the young people from prisons. The Human Rights Center Secretary always answers us that the dialogue is not possible. This morning the secretary told us that two of the parliamentary lawyers are at ‘Antena C’ radion station for an interview.
